Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about how Fortis works. Don't see yours? Call or text309-269-2752.

What areas do you serve?

Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, Rock Island, East Moline, Silvis, Milan, LeClaire, Eldridge, Coal Valley, Colona and the surrounding Quad Cities on both sides of the river. See where we work.

Do you use subcontractors?

No. Every service is done by Fortis-trained crews. The people in your building work for us and know your site.

What services do you offer?

Nightly janitorial, floor care (strip and wax, scrub and recoat, burnishing, carpet extraction), in-house commercial painting inside and out, exterior and pressure washing, and facility maintenance: one crew, one invoice.

Do you work nights and weekends?

Yes. Most janitorial, floor and painting work happens after hours so it never gets in the way of your business.

Can you paint without us closing?

Yes. Our own painters work evenings and weekends: prep, paint and clean up so you open on time.

How does the walkthrough work?

We walk your building with you for about 20 minutes. You get a written proposal within 48 hours.

What is the Free Facility Condition Snapshot?

A free one-page written report from the walkthrough covering floors, restrooms, walls and paint, ceilings and the exterior. No cost, no obligation.

Who do I call if something is not right?

Call or text 309-269-2752. You reach a person, not a call center, and there's no ticket queue.

Are you insured?

Yes. A certificate of insurance and W-9 are available on request for your vendor file.

Do you handle post-construction cleaning?

Yes. We do final cleans before a space opens or turns over: dust, debris, glass and floors ready for move-in.

Do you work with property managers and landlords?

Yes. Unit turns, common areas, hallways and exteriors: paint, clean and floors from one crew so units turn faster.

How often should commercial floors be stripped and waxed?

It depends on traffic. Busy entries and hallways often need it more than once a year, quieter offices less, and scrub-and-recoat in between stretches the time between full strips. We set a schedule on the walkthrough. More in how often floors need strip and wax.

When is the best time to pressure wash a commercial building?

Spring, after salt season, is the big one; many buildings add a fall wash before winter, and every exterior repaint starts with a wash. More in when to pressure wash.

What maintenance jobs do you handle?

The general fixes that keep a building looking right: ceiling tiles, drywall patches, caulking, door hardware, touch-up paint and punch lists. If something needs a licensed trade, we tell you upfront. See facility maintenance.
