Keeping a Showroom Floor Shining Through Salt Season

A showroom floor sells the car parked on it. In the Quad Cities, winter fights that every day: customers, staff and the cars themselves bring in salt, slush and road grime. Left alone, salt leaves a white haze, dulls the finish and starts wearing down to the tile by spring.

Every night

Weekly: bring the shine back

Burnishing (a high-speed polish) restores the gloss that foot traffic dulls. In salt season, most showrooms benefit from it weekly, after the floor has been properly cleaned so the salt isn't polished in.

The scrub and recoat that saves a strip

A scrub and recoat before the first snow, and another in mid-winter if traffic is heavy, takes off the worn top layers and puts fresh finish down. Caught in time, it saves a full strip in spring. Left too long, the finish wears through and a strip and refinish is the only fix. More in how often floors need strip and wax and salt season floor care.

Don't forget the service drive

The service lane and waiting area see the dirtiest traffic in the building. They need their own schedule, separate from the showroom, so grime doesn't migrate onto the sales floor.
