Parents notice a clean entry, a clean restroom and a classroom that looks cared for. Daycare staff already clean all day between activities and meals, so the overnight clean is about resetting the whole building: the floors, the restrooms and the touch points nobody has time for while the kids are there.
Split it with your staff
Staff usually handle the daytime work under their own routines: tables after meals, diaper areas, toys and anything required by your licensing. The cleaning crew handles the full reset after pickup. Writing that split down keeps both sides from doubling up or leaving gaps.
Every night, after pickup
- Restrooms: clean and disinfect toilets, sinks and fixtures; restock; mop.
- Classrooms: vacuum rugs and carpet, mop hard floors, empty trash.
- Touch points: door handles, light switches, cubbies, railings and countertops cleaned and disinfected.
- Entry and lobby: glass at kid height, mats and floors.
- Kitchen or break room: counters, sinks and floors, as agreed with staff.
Every week
- Wipe walls and doors at kid height (it's where the marks are).
- Dust ledges, shelves and window sills.
- Deep-clean restroom floors and grout.
A few times a year
- Carpet and rug extraction.
- Hard-floor scrub and recoat, or strip and refinish over a long weekend or holiday break.
- Touch-up painting of scuffed walls and doors, done when the building is empty.
After a sick week
When illness goes around, many centers add an extra pass on touch points and restrooms. Plan for it in the scope so it's a phone call, not a scramble.
